We are, however, always open to suggestions!There is no shortage of bars, restaurants and supermarkets in the vicinity of the house, with an even greater choice available if you drive towards Fort Myers City itself. There you will find an indoor shopping mall (it does rain sometimes), a 20 screen cinema complex and 2 theatres as well as the homes of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison which are open to the public.Fort Myers Beach can be whatever you want it to be - fun, lively, young-at-heart, or drive to Bowditch at the end of the beach and enjoy peace and tranquility, but still have access to "essential facilities".Sanibel and Captiva are a very short drive away. Here you will find many excellent, up-market restaurants and more casual dining. The shops are great to wander around too. The beautiful city of Naples is less than 1 hours drive.We have one outlet mall just minutes from the house, and another larger outlet mall just 10 miles south on I75.For wildlife lovers the area is a must. The lake at the rear of the property keeps us amused all day as we watch the various types of heron, stork, raptor, etc and look out for the alligator. Other important monuments in the town are the Roman acqueduct and some of the Punic walls still visible. The Romanesque San Simplicio church and the ?Pedres Castle? which controlled the passageway between the Gallura region and the Barbague region, testimonial of the Medieval history of the town. The historical centre deserves a good walk. The sites of the church of San Paolo in granite bricks, small lanes where you can still read the 1600 ? 1700 inscription above the doors lintel, worth a visit.
