It is set in the historic centre of a quaint small Salento village, Ortelle, only 4 Km from the seaside resort of Castro Marina, and has a 5 mt x 12 mt pool. The interior space features a spectacular living area with four majestic vaulted ceilings and the large garden offers the opportunity to enjoy your lunches in the shade of a lovely orange grove. Layout: The interior has been totally renovated and includes: 5 large and exceptionally bright double/twin bedrooms, each with its ensuite bathroom, and another guest bathroom in the living area; a large dining room with an old big stone fireplace and a vast open-concept kitchen with an olive wood table, a bright living room with sofas and office corner. The large glassdoor in the dining room opens into the garden with outdoor furniture, in which orange, lemon, pomegranate and fig trees surround the beautiful swimming pool. A gentle illuminated stairway leads to a terrace featuring a breathtaking panoramic view of the roofs of Ortelle’s historic centre. The unit is equipped with a floor heating system and is therefore also available for rent in the winter season. The property is only a few meters from the town centre. Monuments of historical and artistic significance are found in Ortelle, which owes its name to the innumerable citrus groves scattered throughout the village, one of the most interesting sites of the surrounding coastline hinterland. Smoking is not allowed in the unit. Pets are not allowed. The pool is open from Easter to the end of September AMENITIES: Bathrooms: 5 bathrooms each with a shower, one with a bathtub, and 1 guest bathroom. Fully equipped kitchen: gas stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, iron. Wifi Internet access, radio, CD System, TV and DVD player. Centralized heating system. Other events are the ‘Presepe Vivente’ (living creche) in December and the Feast of St. George, patron saint of Ortelle, celebrated in late April. Since October 2006, the highlights of Ortelle’s territory have been acknowledged as part of the ‘Parco Costa Otranto - Santa Maria di Leuca e Bosco di Tricase’, a protected area founded by the Puglia Regional Council in order to preserve the eastern Salento coastal area and its priceless architectural and environmental heritage. Highlights of the area: Not only does this coastal area offer some of the most spectacular landscapes in Italy, it is also home to Castro and Santa Cesarea Terme, two popular and lively holiday resorts with bars, restaurants, boats, pedal boats and canoe rentals, tours to the nearby grottoes and seaside resorts or scuba diving classes to discover the wonders of the ocean depths. Santa Cesarea Terme is renowned for its moorish-eclectic style villas but also for its sulphur grottoes and its renowned thermal baths. A twenty-minute or so drive leads to the historic town of Otranto, with its legendary castle, its glorious beaches and its old town centre, acknowledged as one of the most beautiful in Italy. Antica Dimora 16Vele is a 70 minute drive to the Brindisi airport and 35 minutes from the town of Lecce and its noteworthy baroque architecture. Although the whole area is fairly accessible, it is advisable to have a car to easily reach the many beautiful sites. Cars can be rented at the Brindisi airport and other locations.
