In 1900 the house was substantially extended by the renowned Scottish architect Robert Lorimer to form the well-laid out, comfortable, bright, light, and spacious 13 bedroomed lairds house that is available for weekend or weekly rent today. Its been pretty luxuriously equipped and nicely furnished, mostly with antiques. The new, comfy beds feature fabulous quality goose-down and feather duvets and gorgeous bed-linen, weve put some original Scottish art on the walls, bought half decent crystal for the table and generally tried to ensure that its as comfortable and well-equipped a place to stay as youll find in Scotland, without having any of the formality or grandeur of a castle or stately home. The house has a lovely, relaxing feel. With a drawing room, TV room / snug, full-size Billiard Room, playroom, large kitchen with AGA and breakfast room downstairs - as well as the impressive dining hall seating 22 - Ormidale has sufficient accommodation to cater for any large house party. We have laid out the bedrooms to offer real flexibility; two rooms are set up as twins, three as king-size doubles, and one as a quadruple bunk room. The other seven bedrooms can be set up either as super-kingsize doubles, as twins, or even sometimes as triples. All bar two of the bedrooms have either an ensuite bathroom or a basin. There are four further bathrooms, two separate loos, and a sauna. Altogether, the house has nine showers and ten wc's. We now have an indoor heated swimming pool which is shared between the three houses on the estate. Each house gets their own hour of exclusive swimming time in the morning and in the afternoon outside those six hours, it is a free for all in the pool. The Mill House and The Old Barn, our stunning new steading conversions, opened in October 2008 and have been christened the wow factory by the early guests. They are just under 100 yards from the main house, with different aspects and their own gardens. Taken together, they can accommodate as many guests as the main house, and the large 80m2 open plan living area in the Mill House is the most spacious in any of the three houses. Many of the parties that have enjoyed the properties so far, took the Mill House and Old Barn together instead of Ormidale House itself. The Old Barn sleeps 14 guests in seven bedrooms, and the Mill House accommodates 22 in nine bedrooms. Accommodation in the main house for up to 31 in 13 bedrooms, with maximum adult occupancy of 24. Eight bathrooms, ten loos. The Mill House accommodates up to 24, and The Old Barn up to 17. Dining Hall seating 12 to 24 at one four-leaf extendable table, with wood-burning stove Kitchen with 4 oven Aga, separate electric hob and oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, food processor, American-style fridge freezer with ice maker. Breakfast Room seating 14 with CD player; door to terrace and garden Sitting / TV Room with full Sky plus TV package, plus Home Cinema surround-sound DVD / CD system, 37 flat-screen Plasma TV, 20 DVDs Drawing Room with Open Fire, 100 book library, 100 CDs, and separates Hi Fi system (plus jigsaws, Monopoly, scrabble, chess, backgammon) Billiard Room with Open Fire; original full size Norval Billiard Table dating 1900, with CD player; plus dart board, card table, casino set including roulette, craps etc Playroom with electric air hockey, and multi-function games table combination including table football, mini snooker, table tennis table, etc, table and chairs for painting, games, sink, plus 42 Plasma TV with independent Sky control and DVD. 10 person Sauna - Utility Room with further fridge / freezer, washing-machine, dryer - Drying room - Two downstairs cloak rooms - Table-tennis Room - Wine cellar - Five sets of golf clubs - 10 bikes Bedroom Accommodation All but two of our 13 bedrooms have either a basin or an en suite bathroom, so there shouldnt be much queuing necessary even with a big party. Altogether, we have eight bathrooms, plus two separate loos downstairs - and a sauna. The bathrooms are functional rather than luxurious with quantity rather than quality being the selling point, here. We have spent a fortune improving the seventeenth century plumbing, and upgrading the private water supply; we will be upgrading the fabric of the bathrooms for 2010. We have arranged for a majority of the bedrooms rooms to be flexible, by buying extra-comfortable, sprung single divan beds that can be locked together to form super-kingsize doubles. Two of these have the spare flipout divan beds stored underneath. Seven of our rooms are therefore either twins, doubles, or sometimes even triples. Seven of the first floor bedrooms are really nice big generous rooms, with the three attic rooms enjoying the best views in the house but slightly less generously proportioned. The quadruple bunk room is a converted cupboard but really popular with children! Weve gone to town with luxurious deep-fill goose and feather down duvets and pillows, and have sourced gorgeous bed-linen from the Scottish Linen Company. Theres summer weight synthetic alternatives for the allergic. Most of our rooms feature antique mahogany chests of drawers, wardrobes, and mirrors. First Floor - 10 bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a sauna; includes six rooms that can be made up either as super-kingsize doubles or as twins 1. large twin / superking, with basin 2. twin / superking with basin 3. twin / superking with en suite shower, loo, basin 4. large twin / super king with ensuite shower, loo, basin (a slightly chillier room than the rest, three outside walls, but lovely double aspect views) 5. small double with basin (lockable interconnecting door to) 6. large twin / superking with spare single bed; en suite shower, loo, basin (lockable interconnecting door to short corridor leading to) 7. large twin / superking with basin 8. superking with ensuite bath, loo, basin (eaves-ish) interconnecting door across hallway & stairs to 9. twin room (eavesish) 10. four berth double bunk room for children only three bathrooms serve this floor; bedrooms 8 and 10 are next to the sauna room; room 9 is accessed via a separate back staircase from downstairs rear hall, or else through room 8; the downstairs rear hall has a loo; room 8 can be accessed from back staircase or main stair case; All rooms (including those that interconnect) have their own independent entrances from corridor Second Floor 11. small pretty double with basin 12. twin room (can be a triple) with basin, and lockable interconnecting door to 13. large twin / superking / triple with basin one bathroom serves these three rooms. 2011 Rates & Dates Prices are Short-break then Full week Low £2495 £3495 Mid £2995 £3995 High £3495 £4495 Peak £3995 £4995 Although just an hour and a half from Glasgow, Ormidale sits in some of the loveliest scenery in Scotland. The Kyles of Bute are renowned amongst both walkers and sailors as amongst the most stunning bits of coast in Scotland. Whatever the weather in Argyll and we do enjoy a remarkably mild micro-climate - this is great country for site seeing, with every corner revealing a new variation on the theme of mountain, loch, valley, sky, woodland, sea, rock, beach. The Cowal peninsula is a fabulous base for an active holiday with marvelous wildlife, numerous gardens and other tourist attractions to visit, and all sporting activities catered for. Ormidale has grounds of 23 acres, and sits about a mile above the head of Loch Riddon, enjoying complete privacy and lovely views down the glen to the river Ruel. The Island of Bute itself is as little as 15 minutes away from the house accessed via a ferry from Colintraive and was a must visit destination long before Stella McCartney got married there or former racing driver Johnnie Dumfries moved into Mount Stuart House as the new Marquess of Bute. Inverary with its famous Jail and Castle, seat of Clan Campbell for the last few hundred years, is only 45 minutes away, as is Loch Lomond. Dunoon is another tourist destination in its own right, and just under half an hour away. You can get to Glen Coe, Stirling, or Oban in under two. Fort William, Ben Nevis and Edinburgh are easy enough day trips reachable in less than 2 and a half hours of lovely driving. Island hopping to Bute, Arran, Gigha, Islay, and Jura is easy. The Portavadie ferry terminal is only 25 minutes away and an hourly service runs across to Tarbert, Mull, Iona, and Skye are a tad further away. Ormidale sits midway between Tighnabruaich and Colintraive. With the tennis court, hot tubs, swimming pool and thousand acre wood to play in let alone games cottage, snooker room etc lots of Ormidale parties find they dont venture much out from the estate itself. But we have a host of activities on our doorstep for those who want a more adventurous, exhausting or active holiday. As well as general site-seeing and trips to the Island of Bute, Inverary and further afield, there are a host of other activities you can undertake around Glendaruel. The Cowal Way on which we sit - is justifiably popular with walkers of all standards and styles. A lot of serious hill-walkers use this area as the best evidence there is that Munro-bagging is a fairly limiting activity, and that height from sea level aint what makes a magical walking or climbing experience. The Kyles of Bute and the immediate area really is fabulous walking country. Its also great for touring, and fantastic for cycling for those who want to work on two wheels rather than four. There are some really excellent and quite var... http://www.arkadia.com/qsqk-t1549/

It is very strategic for a pleasant stay in the Périgord noir: All tourist attractions are fast and easy to achieve while the rest looked very good has been retained. Paunat has about 200 souls. The houses of the village, almost without exception, very well restored. Because the village is located in a small valley, the streets sometimes very style which is a walk through the village alternately. Economic activity has Paunat barely. There is a restaurant, Julien, where men in a beautiful environment can eat and what can buy groceries and bread ( see the photo on the right of the church). For some shops and restaurants is Limeuil, 4 kilometers away, the most closely. Le Bugue, about 9 kilometers away, the nearest large town, with a large supermarket, various shops, a very nice market on Tuesday morning and an SNCF station. Although only small houses Paunat still two cultural treasures: the hunebed (a cemetery from the late Magdalenien, 10, 000 BC.), And the church. The Church of Paunat is the remnant of a 12th-century Benedictine abbey. The architecture has the appearance of a large okerkleurig castle. Of the 2 domes covered are 1 the torenkamer. This is a very rare element. The church has reinforced a verdedigingsruimte above the choir and the dwarsbeuk. The church is freely available and there are regular services. Enjoy nature and forget the worries of everyday life in your own wooden chalet! This holiday park is situated in the area of the "Schwäbische Alb" (Swabian Mountains). You can choose between comfortable and cozy wooden cottages for 4 or 6 persons. During the holidays (of Baden-Württemberg) your children can participate in a varied program Monday through Friday (ages 3 and up). There is also a Kids Club, two large playgrounds, a tennis court and a playhouse with tables at your disposal. North of the park there is a field where you can play with or without the children. Do not want to cook during your holiday? In the park you will also find the “Lauterstüble” restaurant. Here you can enjoy delicious meals, including breakfast (from € 7.50 pp), half board (€ 19.50 per person) or full board (€ 25.00 pp). Children (5-10 years of age) pay 50%. It is also possible to use the restaurant to order fresh rolls. You can enjoy the convenience of their bread service seven days a week (including Sundays and holidays). There is even a sauna for your relaxation and enjoyment. The sauna is available upon request. This beautifully situated wooden house with large plot has approximately 81 m2 of living space and offers space for 2 to 6 persons. In the living room there is a sitting area with a (satellite) television and a fireplace. The kitchen (with spacious dining area) is fully-equipped including electric stove, refrigerator, coffeemaker and oven. The house has two bedrooms one furnished with a double bed the other with a bunk bed or a 2-person sofa bed. All cottages have been individually decorated and are cozy and comfortable and are equipped with central heating. There is a separate toilet and a bathroom with a bathtub or shower. Upon arrival the beds will be made for you. Towels, kitchen towels and dusters are available. The costs for electricity, water and final cleaning are included in the price. The park is completely free of cars. This means that you should park your car in the parking lot of the park and then walk to your house. To transport your luggage, you can use the hand carts available at the parking lot. The big advantage is that throughout your stay you do not hear cars passing by. You and your children have peace and quiet as well as security during your holiday. Here in the "Schwäbische Alb" (Swabian Alb, a low mountain range in Baden-Wurttenberg) time seems to pass just a little bit slower. While on vacation it is wonderful to have time to enjoy all the beautiful surroundings. At your convenience you can discover the relationship between the Swabian people and their homeland. Every season in the "Schwäbische Alb" has something to offer so there is certainly something suitable for you. The valley of the great "Lauter" offers unparalleled hiking opportunities. You will find lots of peace and quiet in this diverse, natural landscape with flower meadows, moors, beech forests and limestone cliffs. A variety of castles, ruins, caves and vantage points make a visit to Hayingen and its surroundings more than worth the effort. From the banks of the "Lauter", the "Ah Zwiefalter" and the "Glastal" you can see trout in the crystal clear waters below. You can enjoy the sound of the water rushing through the rocks and woods of the "Schwäbische Alb". In Hayingen people still respect the order of the day. "Feschtle" (carnival associated with driving out winter) are traditional here. Another important tradition are the plays performed in the theater of nature. For almost 50 years these self-written theater pieces have been performed in the Schwäbisch dialect. The stage is completely formed by nature and the scenery, surroundings and play are adapted to each new year. From mid-July to early September you can enjoy this unique open-air spectacle every Saturday (8:00 pm) and Sunday (2:30). In the "Schwäbische Alb" you can still enjoy nature. There are many plants here that are on the verge of extinction. If you would like to view nature from a different perspective, you can canoe down the "Lauter" (on weekdays from July 1st; you can rent canoes in Bischishausen about 6 kilometers away). A visit to the "Wimsemer Cave" is also worthwhile. You can visit this cave by boat up until late October. The healthy climate of the low mountain range is certainly a benefit for your lungs as well as your soul. You can enjoy an active or restful holiday among this refreshing landscape. Hiking, cycling, gliding, hot air balloon rides, tennis, canoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter – there is something for everyone! Also people with allergies will enjoy the fresh, crisp air of this area. On arrival the beds are made and towel is also available. This is inclusive. If guests want to change the linen, this has to be paid extra. Change of linen costs for 1 bed (1x linen, 1 cover, 1 pillowcase) 6.00 Euro Linen package costs per person 10,00 Euro (1x complete bed linen package and 2 towels).
